Who’s Remy?

Remy Kai Picklo was a kind, sweet, loving and extremely funny little girl from New Smyrna Beach, FL. She attended Upward Trend Academy and absolutely loved her friends and teachers alike. She loved to take golf cart (or “Light Cart”) rides to Dorris Leaper Park, play with her barbies on the sun shelf of the pool, take boat rides, swim at the beach, and swing on the tree swing across from her house. Remy made both friends and strangers laugh anywhere she went, always messing around with the “grandmas” and cashiers at the grocery store. Remy was the youngest of 3 children, who loved her older brother Ezra and older sister Isabella, along with the two pugs at home, Pucky Bear and Pua Bear.

Remy received her Leukemia diagnosis (ALL Type B) on January 11th, 2023. Remy was a high-risk patient due to having a major heart repair as a baby (CAVC/Full AV Canal) and hereditary spherocytosis (splenectomy). She fought very hard, experiencing several setbacks throughout her first few months of treatment, including an unrelated high-risk neurosurgery. Remy lost her battle with cancer exactly 7 months after receiving her diagnosis on August 11, 2023, due to complications from treatment (Endocarditis/Sepsis) just 6 weeks after her 7th birthday. Remy left her mark everywhere she went, especially with the hospital staff.

Remy’s parents started Remy’s Aloha to give back to the loving community that gave so much love and support throughout her courageous battle.

Everyone loves and misses you so much, sweet Remibutt.

In Memoriam: Remy Kai Picklo

The beautiful Remy Kai; the most powerful warrior we’ve ever known.

Remy’s life was a miracle of love. From the moment she was born, we marveled at the way she was able to overcome unthinkable odds. Remy quickly became the center of our world, but what we didn’t know is that she would also open our eyes to a very beautiful world – one with the purest kind of love and the most beautiful type of beauty.

We were blessed to have her here on Earth with us for an incredible seven years. On January 11th, 2023, Remy was diagnosed with leukemia, and she fought a brave and valiant journey with cancer for seven months when she unexpectedly lost her battle and left us to return to Heaven.

Remy lived for ‘light cart’ (golf cart) rides and a chips box with her daddy, snuggles and reading books with her mommy, dancing to Taylor Swift with her sister Lala and playing drums with her brother Ezzy. She channeled her energy through music. Her favorite food was sticks and steaky burgers and she found the greatest joy in going to Publix to pick out an apple and an ookie cookie while saying ‘Hi’ to all of the old ladies. She loved to ride elevators and found happiness at the beach and in the sea – her happiness was simple. Remy also had a wicked sense of humor and an incredibly compassionate and tender heart. And until the very end, she was always ready to fight everything that came her way.

People felt good in her presence. Remy was like sunshine; a tiny, mighty sun. One of her gifts was to make everyone she encountered feel special. She had compassion and empathy built in intrinsically, in heart-places a lot of us don’t.

Through Remy’s light and strength, she inspired everyone who met her. Her determination and resilience to survive in this world with her smiles through it all shows how God’s light can shine through even the darkest hours.

It is truly humbling to be Remy’s parents and witness the incredible things she accomplished in her little life.

Keep shining in heaven, brave girl. We love and miss you so much. You will always be our biggest hero.
